Christmas Ornament

Every year, my sisters, sister-in-laws and my mom, do an ornament exchange. We each make 8 of the same ornament and then exchange them at Thanksgiving. We have been doing it for many years and some of them are so beautiful.

Here are the ones I did this year.

I was very happy with how these turned out.

If you are interested, here are the instructions

Supplies needed:
1 1/2" block
9/16" eye screw
ribbon
photo
embellishments

Paint and sand the block.

I sized my photo to 1 1/4" and printed it on to regular cardstock. Cut out and ink the edges.

Find clip art and print it out on cardstock also, cut and ink (I actually used my Silhouette and some print files.)

Mod Podge the Photo and embellishment.

Use a black Sharpie Pen and write the date on the bottom *Optional

Screw the eye screw into the top of the block. Tie a bow around it. Add another piece of ribbon for the loop.

Hang this little ornament on your tree to enjoy all season long.

Try starting this new tradition with your family. A Family Ornament Exchange. You will be glad you did.

Check back next week and I will post all the ones I receive.

PS If you are interested in ordering 1 1/2" blocks please email me.

Advent Calendar ideas

You can not deny it any longer. I know you still haven't bought the turkey or made the pies but Thanksgiving is just next week. If you are like me, Thanksgiving is the kick off for the Holiday season. We love to have family around, go shopping, watch movies and Decorate the Tree!!!

The weekend is also a great time to work on Christmas projects. Every year we do a "candy countdown" with the kids. Its very simple and easy to do. I will share our candy countdown with you sometime next week. But while I was "surfing" I found two super adorable advent calendars and thought I would share them with you.

This first one is done with the Silhouette. I love the vinyl above it. For instructions visit the Silhouette blog. (if you have a Silhouette, you might want to book mark this site, they have some amazing projects and ideas.)

This second one is posted here, its my favorite but there are other ideas using the Kiaser Craft Advent Calendar also. The paper is Graphic 45.

So on your "to do " list this week don't forget to buy the turkey, make some pies and plan a project or two.

Have a great week.

Christmas Blocks

They are done and I am so excited to share them with you. Three new Christmas blocks ready to be put together and enjoyed.

This first kit, "Nativity Saying" is a perfect way to remind us of why we celebrate this wonderful day. The Traditional colors match the rest of the kits. The largest block is 14 inches long and the lettering is all vinyl. Cost for this is $12.

These next two kits are for all those doubters...

Ho Ho Ho is a perfect little reminder that Santa is on his way. Along with the fun colors and beautiful ribbon, there is a stocking, a wreath and even a little sign asking Naughty or Nice? Cost for this kit is $13.

Our last kit is Believe. This is the biggest block set I have ever done. The tallest block measures over 7" tall and its total length is over 2 1/2 feet long. It would look great sitting under the tree or on top of the mantel. It is decorated with Mistletoe and Holly and just a touch of gold. Cost on the Believe kit is just $18.

I also was able to get more supplies for the Noel so I am taking new orders on this kit as well (cost $10)

I will be taking orders until the end of the week. (Friday Nov. 20) and will try to have orders filled by the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Please email me rushton_tracy@yahoo.com to place your orders.

Calendars and Kits

Hello ladies, Did you think I had fallen off the face of the earth? All I can say is Whew! What a couple of weeks this has been. I have been busy doing Super Saturdays, Halloween costumes and Big Fancy Dresses and little tiny suites for the musical at our Middle school.

Now that those are all done, I am ready to jump back into things.

I think that I have talked to most of you in one way or another and all the kits that have been ordered should be ready by Thursday or Friday of this week. I will email you when they are done and we can arrange pick-up or delivery.

I am now taking second orders on all of the fall items but I am quickly running out of paper and don't know that I will be able to get anymore in time for Thanksgiving. If you are interested in ordering one of the fall kits please email me ASAP (rushton_tracy@yahoo.com) and I will get them out to you as soon as we can.

I am also taking individual orders for all of the winter/Christmas kits that are on so you can email me for those also.

Don't forget to check back later this week as I will have NEW Christmas projects posted.

For those of you who wait for the Desktop Calendars I have one for you.

This one is from Shabby Princess and so far is the only one I have found for the month of November. I will keep looking and post more as I find them.

In the mean time, I hope you all enjoy this new month. Its a great time to bundle up, stay indoors and work on those Christmas projects.
