Lucky Mini Album and a layout

I found this super stinkin' cute Mini Album on the Little Yellow Bicycle Blog.  It is so perfect, as soon as I can get my hands on this paper I think I am going to have to make one.

What a perfect way to highlight some of those special photos.

This has been a rough week because it is CHA (Craft Hobby Association) in LA this week.  I know all the new and wonderful things are coming out and going to be available soon.  I have spent way to much time on the computer gathering ideas and wishing I were there.  Oh well.

I hope you have a great week and find sometime to craft and be creative!

Home Decor Ideas

This is for those of you who keep asking me to post photos of my front room wall.
I have tall vaulted ceilings in my front room and kitchen. That means a lot of open space. We have family pictures hanging on the wall but it was so large they just seemed to get lost. (And there are a lot of photos too.)
Here was my solution:

First, I found some really nice black frames for my photos, however they were very pricey and I didn't want to spend that much so I took my cheep Wal-Mart frames, removed the photos and glass and spray painted them. After they dried I took some sand paper to them and distressed them a little. I like the way the color and distress helped them all to blend together even though they are each a little different.

Next, I had my husband build me this ladder. I also painted it black and distressed it. Then I hung a wreath a bow and a little sign on it and hung it on my wall. (It is 3 feet tall and about 8" wide- love it)

To Finish, I cut out some vinyl words on my Silhouette "There is Beauty all around when there's love at home"
I love how it turned out, and I get compliments on it all the time.
Next will be new curtains for the kitchen and front room.....

Through my daughters eyes- a layout

I have really been in the mood to scrapbook lately.  I did this page the other night.

I used paper  and punch outs from My Minds Eye.  The titles is done using the Silhouette.  I inked and destressed all the edges using a tan ink pad.  Some of the punch outs are popped up using foam dots.

I was really happy with the results.  Now off to do some more layouts!

Hot Cocoa Box

I made this little box for a sweet little lady that just lives down the street from me.  I was really happy with how it turned out and thought I would share.

Instructions:
1. I started with the little ornament box by Silhouette and put an oval window in it. Fold it up leaving one end open.  Ink all the edges with a blue ink.
2. Filled a small cello bag with 1/3 C Hot Cocoa mix, mini marshmellows, 1/2 broken candy cane (I know you all still have some of those) and topped it of with two chocolate kisses. Fold the bag over and seal shut.
3. Close the box up and run a ribbon through the wholes.
4. Add Glittered Snowflakes (instructions bellow) with foam pot dots.
5. Print out the saying glue it to a tag (also cut from the silhouette) and tie on with another piece of ribbon.

To make the glittered snowflakes, simply cut out snowflakes, (punches or the silhouette), spray them with Spray Adhesive and dip into a small bowl with glitter.  (Martha Stewart fine glitter is my favorite)
Let dry for 3 to 4 minutes.

Saying for the tag:

A little cup of cocoa,
I'm sending your way,
For you to sip and enjoy,
on some cold, lonely day.

As you sip this cocoa,
it's warmth will warm your heart.
Just like our friendship
warmed mine,
right from the very start.

I hope you enjoy this little project.  If you need some help getting all the peices let me know.

Recipe Box from We R Memory Keepers

My Daughter, who is headed back to college, wanted some of my recipes so I have been looking at some fun ways to do something really cute for her. We R Memory Keepers has one solution:

Here are just two different samples I found using that plain box.

(I know, this isn't a recipe box but I love the idea!)

Silhouette also has some super cute Recipe cards that are print and cut.

Bound with the Bind-it –all it could make a really cute little recipe book. Hmmm… I am going to have to give this some serious thought. Maybe I will do both.

Here is a bonus for you today. Did you know Basic Grey now carries fabric?

It’s a little spendie but sooooo cute.

I also found a pattern to make these adorable fabric flowers that you can attach to a bag, shirt or make hair clips with.

I hope this gets you in the mood to do some crafting… I know I am!

Storage Drawers

I am bored, can you tell? I hope you like the changes I made to my blog today.  I love that I can put some of the places I go for insperation on the left side.  Pretty cool eh?

Today I found a really fun project to do.  It is the Storage Drawers and who couldn't use more Storage space for all those little things that get left to "float around" and get lost in those bigger storage containers?

And even better yet just click here to get printable step by step instructions.

I Think I need to do about 5 of these.  You could also use the countdown calendar boxes from Karen Foster and make a little bigger one.

If you make one (or 5 ) let me see a photo of it.  Just Email it to rushton_tracy@yahoo.com

January Calendars

I usually don't share personal information on this blog but a bit of explanation is due. Last week I had surgery and all though everything went very well, I am now laid up for a week or so. I have a few projects I worked on before going in but for now I will be posting some of the fun ideas I have found while "relaxing" and surfing the web.

Today, even though they are late, I thought I would share the January Calendars I have found.

To get this one click here. It is by Bo Bunny and even if you don't want this Calendar be sure to check out there idea page. I love Bo bunny and they really know how to get those creative juices flowing.

The second one is from Scrapbook Dimensions Magazine. For those who are into Digital or just wanting to try it out a little, this is a great resource.

For whatever reason, I end up using the one from Shabby Princess.

This month I wanted to put some pictures of my sister and me on the calendar and this one just worked perfectly.

Be sure to check back lots this week as I share some of my great finds.

For those of you who have ordered kits (or would like to), my sweet hubbie is busy cutting and painting wood so kits will be ready!

Project 12

*This is a copy from Scrapbook & Cards Today but I loved it so much and thought it was such a wonderful idea I decided to re-post it here. I hope you will join me with this project. I am looking forward to it!

Project 12 Launch
What is Project 12?

By now you’ve seen the announcement and have started to hear rumblings of a 2010 scrapbooking challenge. You may have heard the name BECKY FLECK associated with it as well. 2010 is just a few short days away, so I wanted to prepare you for the year ahead and encourage you to participate in what will make a great addition to your scrapbook albums – in 12 easy steps!

Project 12 started out as a compromise to the yearly challenge of taking 365 photos. I know I am not organized enough to remember to do something like that on a daily basis, so the idea of that challenge was very overwhelming. I thought it would be much easier to summarize my life on a monthly basis, and that is the concept of Project 12.

The Project 12 challenge is simple. The idea is to create a layout on a monthly basis which recaps what you’ve been doing. Whether you took 31 photos, no photos, or 100 photos, simply choose your favorites that best described what you were doing that month, and create a layout.
Are you excited? I am more than excited to host the challenge with Becky’s help this year. How creative and interesting! Becky Fleck is so smart!
