Hats and Headbands

I hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas!  We sure did, one more holiday weekend and then its time to get back to work.

If you are wondering when new kits are coming out, all I can say is soon.  I was up late last night designing two new winter and 4 valentine kits.  Keep checking as I will be posting soon.

In the meantime...
We (meaning my girls and I) have been doing lots of crafts and I thought I would share.

Hats

For my son's Eagle project, he put together 120 Christmas Stockings for underprivileged children. One of the items in the stockings were hats.  A lot of knitted and store bought hats were donated but we also made a lot from fleece.   They were so easy and turned out so cute that I made some for all the kids
. Here is a link for the pattern.  They are super easy and work up so fast.  (did I mention, they were easy?)

Here is the finished hat, cute hu?

Next I used my Big Shot and the Sizzix Circle Die and cut out four circles from the fleece.  I added a pretty pearl button and stitched the flower together. I made three flowers for each hat.

I then sewed each flower to the brim of the hat on the right side.

I did them in cream, purple and yellow.  Each one of my daughters received one for Christmas and they were a huge hit!
(don't look at my nasty table, lots of projects have been done on this table!)

Headbands
For Christmas D1 and D4 each received a sewing machine.  I found another super cute and easy pattern for headbands here.

The three of us spent the day making them.

Does the flower look familiar?  I once again used the Big Shot and the Circle Die, this time cutting circles from the cream fleece and the brown fabric. I sewed the flower to a pin so that I could wear the headband with the flower or alone.

The nice thing about these headbands is the hidden elastic that keeps it fitting snugly (but not tight) on your head.

For the flower on this headband I used my Stampin' up Flower die.  (Love it!!! so worth the price!)

Here are just a few of the headbands we did. When all was done and said the 3 of us finished thirteen headbands in one afternoon.

Don't you think these will make great birthday gifts for all those girly parties they get invited too?

I hope you all have a wonderful new year.  Party wisely.
Keep checking the blog as I will be posting other crafts and soon some new kits.

Folder Mini Album

I was looking over some of the projects I have done in the past when I found this Folder Mini Album and thought I would share it.  Of course the paper I originally used is no longer in print,  but you could use some fall paper and make a really fun "thanksgiving" mini.

Supplies:
Legal size File Folder, 3 or 4 sheets of printed-paper, (I used Basic Grey, Sultry Collection). You will also need 3 or 4 colors of card Stock, liquid adhesive and the Score-Pal.

Begin by scoring the file folder in half.

Open the file folder and fold on the new scored line. Now score in half and each side in half again.

Open up and decorate the top section with paper and card stock. (This will be the inside of the pockets that will show.)

Turn the bottom up and decorate.

Open again and cut the pocket openings. Apply liquid glue on the scored areas (black lines) and fold up to form pockets.

Decorate both the front and backside of the folder by using punches, buttons and ribbon.

Make tags to fit inside the pockets and decorate them.

These little folder makes a great gift and you can do it for any occasion. They are heavy and will hold up very well.

I hope you all have a great Thanks Giving! Enjoy your week!

Odds and Ends

So for the most part, Super Saturdays are over, I have two left in November but that's all.

I am working on a couple of Fall kits.  I am also working on some new Christmas Projects and re-vamping some older kits so be sure to check back soon.

In the mean time here are a few Fabric Projects I have been working on  the last few months with my daughters, sisters etc.

D3 wanted to make a Rag Quilt for a Personal Progress Project. I decided to do one with her, mine is a Christmas quilt.  These are really easy to do, but your hands do get tired with all the cutting involved.  So worth it, I love the way they turned out.

In September D1, my mom, sister and sister in law got together  in Midway and made these adorable aprons.
Once again mine was a Christmas Apron (what can I say- I am a junkie!!)

This was D1's first sewing project.  She did great.

The finished projects.  It was a great way to spend a weekend!

Before we went on vacation I made a cinch bag for D5

I loved the way it turned out so I made 6 more. (they really went together fast!)

and last but certainly not least, I decided to try my hand at a little crocheting. (something I have not done before.)  Here are some little Dish clothes that were a lot of fun to make.

With Christmas just less than two months away (yes I said it, two months); I think it is time to get the sewing machine out again and see what other projects we can come up with.

What have you been working on?  Lets see!
