Perfect Hostess Gift

Going to a party or dinner this week and looking for a smart hostess gift but out of time?

Here is a quick, easy and beautiful idea.

I love to give Sparkling Cider to the Hostess.  It can either be opened and served at the party or saved for later.
This would also be a great project for a bottle of flavored oil.

I used two different files from the JGW Poinsettia Passion Collection.

JGW Poinsettia Passion

Because of all the detail on the Poinsettia for the Doily Frame Card I chose to use that flower but I  put it on the Bottle Tag.
The instructions for the card can be found here.

Here is a close up of my flower.

I cut the leaves and stems from 2 different greens and then followed Jodi's instructions to ink and curl the leaves.

For the Poinsettia leaves I used two different reds.  Emboss the leaves with an embossing envelope.
Ink and curl the leave following Jodi's instructions again.

Once it is assembled, add some small gold beads to the center.

To finish the gift off, I tied a big sparkly bow and added to the top of the bottle.

I am so happy with the way this turned out and I think my Mother in Law will be pleased when I give it to her at Christmas dinner.

Be Sure to check out SVG Attic for some new and old Christmas files!
Merry Christmas.

Happy Birthday Jodi

Today is Jodi's birthday.
Jodi is one of the amazing designers behind SVG Attic and Snapdragon Snippits.
If you use a silhouette/ Cameo I am sure you have used at least one of her designs.

I feel very blessed to be lucky enough to know and "work" with this amazing, talented women.

This card is one the she created the file for and can be purchased at SVG Attic or in the Silhouette Store.
I used the print and cut feature (one of my favorite things to do.) to create the little sentiment on the banner.

To see more cards from the design team celebrating Jodi's birthday visit the blog.

Happy Birthday Jodi!

Christmas kisses and Cookies

Is there any treat that says Christmas more than cookies or chocolate?
Today for my post over at SVG Attic I decided to combine two of my favorite Christmas treats.
Cookies and Chocolate Kisses.

The file is from the JGW Beary Sweet Colection.

JGW Beary Sweet

This is a fun little kit full of teddy bears.
I used the 3D Chocolate Candy  and I love how it turned out.

I left it the original size for Hersey Chocolate Kisses

Then made one bigger (set the scale to 150% in Silhouette Studio) for some chocolate chip cookies!

The tag that comes with it is already set up for a print and cut with instructions here to make it.
Change the words to say Merry Christmas.

Use some metallic, or foil cardstock, to make it really shimmer and you have the perfect gift box to share with your friends and neighbors.

Last Minute Thanksgiving Favor Box.

Today is Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving.
That means one more day to make a fun, quick, easy and practical Thanksgiving project!

What type of dinner do you have on this holiday? Fancy and formal with the best china or in front of the football game with paper plates and lots of cheering?

However you are celebrating, how about including a little favor box?

I created these little favor boxes using the December Count Down Sack file from the

JGW Christmas on the Docket

Jodi has provided the instructions here.
The little bags go together very quickly and are the perfect size.

I printed the names of each of my guests on the computer and then added them to the front with foam pop dots.  Now I can use them as a place setting as well.

Fun and Practical!

Each sack is filled with some Andes Mints and a little note of why I am grateful for them.
They are tied up with a bit of string to finish each bag.

Today, while the pie's are baking and the turkey is thawing, grab some scrap paper (it doesn't take much, most of what I used was leftovers from another project) and make some favors for you dinner guests.

And no matter how you celebrate, I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Count Your Blessings

Fall is in the air and its time to get ready for one of my favorite holidays...Thanksgiving.
SVG Attics has a brand new, wonderful kit available

This is a beautiful set of cards, but I especially love the Vinyl Art and couldn't wait to use it!

I had the perfect metal tray to place the vinyl on.

Add to the sign, some  leaves cut from the Rocker Hat Card.
Crinkle the leaves and ink them up before adding  to the sign.

I love how the leaves, and the sign blend in perfect with my Fall wreath.

And here is a close up of just the sign with leaves.

What a great project.

Trick or Treat Bags

Halloween is less then a week away, I am not sure how that happened but it did!
This week my project for SVG Attic is these bright Halloween bags, perfect for little
 Trick or Treaters!

I used the CG Father Christmas files to make my bags.

 I LOVE these bags!

They are the perfect size for whatever you need.

The bigger bag is perfect for a Trick or Treat bag for a smaller person.  Not as big as a pillow case, its easy to carry with the ribbon handles and just the right size for all those fun size candy bars.
Use some fun, bright printed paper and its as cute as it is functional.

The smaller size bag is ideal for filling with Carmeled Popcorn or another yummy treat and sharing with that special someone.

To decorate the outside of the bag, use images from the What's Brewin' Collection.

The tree and house  are embossed with an embossing folder to give it a little more depth.
Tie a big tulle bow to the handles and you have a bag that is almost as delicious as anything you fill it with.

Come on over to SVG Attics and finish up those last minute  projects and
Happy Halloween!

Quick Halloween Eyeball Treats

Tomorrow is scouts and we will be holding our Halloween party for the boys.
What boys, ages 8-10, do you know that don't love creepy things?

I picked these eyeball  candies up in the bulk section of WinCo last week and thought I would do something fun with them... then I got busy and forgot!

Tonight I was looking for something quick and easy so I googled "Halloween eyeball printables" and found this great .pdf  Here.

They come 6 to a page and were perfect! Fast, Easy and oh so creepy!
I made 12 of them in just a few minutes

I think the boys are going to love them, and I might even go back and get more eyeballs and do them for the ladies at work too!

Steampunk Mourner's Hat

Its October and that means lots of exciting Halloween projects.
This week for the SVG Attic Design team I decided to make a Steampunk Mourner's Hat.

This is such a fun project and easy to do as well.

It is the Mourner's Hat from the JGW Raven Quest Collection with a few changes.

Follow Jody's instructions here to cut out and build the basic hat.
(She gives you a step by step pattern complete with photos, that is easy to follow.)

To decorate the hat and turn it in to a true steam punk  I first added a paper overlay with some printed paper.

The feathers were perfect for the hat so I made 1 large and 2 of the smaller ones; ink them up just a little with some silver-glitter ink.

The two flowers are a design of my own that I had leftover from a different project, but you could use the carnation flower that comes with the file or even some silk flowers.

To finish off the hat I added some black tulle around the base of the hat.

I am so pleased with how this turned out!
Be sure to visit SVG Attic for more Halloween project you will love.

Fall Harvest Basket

There are lots of things to love about fall but one of my favorite is picking apples.
Its been a long time since I walked around my grandpa's orchard and helped fill baskets with beautiful colored apples but every fall I am reminded of those days!

Today's project for SVG Attic is this beautiful fall harvest basket full of bright apples!

The file is from the Fall Harvest Favor Boxes.

I loved creating this basket.  It went together very quickly.  It is perfect for displaying or fill the apples with a little treat and share it with a friend.

To create the basket I used some wood printed pattern paper from doodle bug.  Tie some twine around it and add a couple of  fall leaves.

Apples come in many varieties so I created mine in three different colors and inked them up just a little.
To give the leaves a little more interest I ran them through my sizzix and then inked the edges also.
To finish them off add a brown button.

Such a fun project.
